Describe the problems faced by the Weimar Republic.

The Weimar Republic faced the following problems:
(1) The Treaty of Versailles after the First World War was unfair to Germany. Germany was exploited using that treaty and due to the humiliating terms of the Treaty, the common public was discontent.
(2) Due to Germany being made to pay for the First World War, its economy crumbled. The price of essential goods increased substantially and the gold reserves were depleted.
(3) In an economic crisis, the German government elected democratically could not cope with the problems and failed to solve them Thus, the public later accepted the dictatorship of Hitler.
वाइमर गणराज्य को निम्नलिखित समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ा:
(1) प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के बाद हुई वर्साय की संधि जर्मनी के प्रति अन्यायपूर्ण थी। इस संधि का इस्तेमाल जर्मनी का शोषण करने के लिए किया गया और संधि की अपमानजनक शर्तों के कारण आम जनता में असंतोष व्याप्त था।
(2) प्रथम विश्व युद्ध की कीमत चुकाने के कारण जर्मनी की अर्थव्यवस्था चरमरा गई। ज़रूरी वस्तुओं की कीमतें काफ़ी बढ़ गईं और सोने का भंडार ख़त्म हो गया।
(3) आर्थिक संकट के समय लोकतांत्रिक तरीके से चुनी गई जर्मन सरकार समस्याओं का सामना नहीं कर सकी और उन्हें सुलझाने में असफल रही। इस प्रकार, बाद में जनता ने हिटलर की तानाशाही को स्वीकार कर लिया।

The following reasons made Nazism popular in Germany in the 1930s:
(1) The democratic governments could not solve the country’s economic crisis and left abruptly. Thus, people were fed up with weak governments.
(2) Adolf Hitler promised the people to uphold the conditions and dignity of Germany. This instilled hope in the minds of the people.
(3) The Nazi party did not let other parties gain ground and hence, people listened only to the Nazis.
